Internship Requirement

Students must be eligible to obtain a CDL (Commercial Drivers License) and be able to pass a DOT (Department of Transportation) physical, drug screening, and background check as a condition of employment for the internship portion of the program which begins during the first semester.

Tools Required

A tool list will be provided on the first day of class and instructors will work with students to help them create an individualized tool purchasing plan. Various suppliers provide tools at a discounted price to students enrolled in the program and range between $500 - $5000.

Accreditation and Affiliations

The ASE Education Foundation is a non-profit organization that evaluates and accredits entry-level automotive technology education programs against standards developed by the automotive service industry. It also develops career-readiness education for students which fuse local partnerships, rigorous standard-based education, workplace experience, and mentorship together.

• The Medium/Heavy Truck program is a member of the Minnesota Trucking Association (MTA).
• Hennepin Technical College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In 2003, Hennepin Tech became a member of the HLC Academic Quality Improvement Program.
