Hennepin Technical College graduate selected to join the Cisco Live Dream Team

Minneapolis, May 30, 2019 -- Nyphen Sanders, a Hennepin Technical College graduate, was recently selected for the Cisco Live Dream Team, a prestigious information technology internship. He’s the only Minnesotan and one of 10 students from across the U.S. to be selected for the honor.

From June 4-14, 2019, Sanders will working in San Diego, California at the Cisco Live annual conference, the company’s largest customer event with more than 28,000 attendees. As a member of the Dream Team, Sanders will be working alongside Cisco engineers to deploy the technologies needed to deliver a positive experience for conference attendees.

Sanders will represent Hennepin Technical College at the event. The college is a certified Cisco Networking Academy and Sanders credits the hands-on instruction for his success in IT.

“Nyphen possesses a refreshing attitude of service which I believe is paramount in providing high-quality IT and incident response services to an organization,” said Joan Bernard, IT faculty member at Hennepin Technical College. “During challenging Cisco network configuration labs, Nyphen consistently demonstrated solid problem-solving and troubleshooting skills even while under deadline pressure. Nyphen is a leader among his peers and will bring value to the 2019 Dream Team.”

The Dream Team, now in its ninth year, is a unique professional development opportunity for students to work with industry leaders to deploy and support the event’s Network Operations Center. In addition to being recognized at the event, Sanders will gain real-world IT experience, attend conference sessions and complete the Cisco certification exam. Dream Team selection criteria include demonstrated technical/professional skills, instructor recommendations and activities outside the classroom.

This spring, Sanders graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer forensics from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul. While pursuing his bachelor’s, Sanders served as the president of the Cybersecurity forensics club, leading his own Cisco presentations. Prior to his enrollment at the university, he completed an associate degree at Hennepin Technical College.
