Fall semester is back on campus at Hennepin Technical College

Brooklyn Park, June 18, 2021 – Hennepin Technical College (HTC) is preparing to welcome back students to campus for fall semester.

As vaccination rates continue to increase in Minnesota, health officials have eliminated or eased COVID-19 restrictions. HTC is anticipating a potential return to a more normal campus environment this fall. The college will offer significantly more classes and services in-person when fall semester begins August 23, 2021.

During summer semester, HTC is operating with primarily online classes and hybrid classes that combine online lectures with in-person labs or skills training.

Support for students

COVID-19 caused tremendous financial hardships for students and their families. HTC offers resources to those who need support. Laptop computers and mobile hotspots are free to borrow. The college received additional funding to distribute to students for crisis grants, scholarships and financial aid. In addition, there are monthly free grocery events.

For students who did not attend college in 2020 due to the pandemic, or for any student who needs assistance with academics, HTC offers a College Success class to help improve study skills and college know-how. For fall semester, the class is free for the first 75 students who enroll. (The class is also known as CCDS 1000.)

Commitment to safety

Protecting the health and safety of the entire campus community remains the top priority for HTC. If conditions change, HTC will continue to closely adhere to state and federal guidelines related to health and safety.

The college encourages students, faculty and staff to get a COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, HTC sanitizes surfaces frequently, urges regular hand washing and asks those who feel sick to stay home.
