HTC student Ariel David earns World Citizen Award
Brooklyn Park, Dec. 6, 2021 – Ariel David, Information Technology student at Hennepin Technical College (HTC), has been awarded the Mark Welter World Citizen Award.
David is a U.S. Army veteran who was stationed in several bases throughout the U.S. during his service. While stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, he was a member of the Strike Force of the 101st Airborne. His military service inspired him to join the HTC Veterans Club to help other vets on campus.
In addition, David is active at HTC through his work as treasurer of Student Senate and as a student worker in IT at the college.
“I encourage students to get involved at the college. It’s a way to help others, contribute and foster relationships. Even if you are collaborating on studies and coursework with classmates, it is a way to make connections,” said David.
The World Citizen Award is a tribute to students who exemplify an understanding of the interconnected nature of the world in the 21st century. Students honored will receive $500. Approximately 20 students from the Minnesota State system receive this award, which is sponsored by the Welter Family Foundation and the student advocacy group LeadMN.
