Summer Program

Our five- week academic summer program is held at Hennepin Technical College’s (HTC) Brooklyn Park Campus, for rising 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. Each Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, students rotate between math and reading classes, taught by licensed teachers, and college preparatory classes, taught by ETS advisors and guest speakers. The afternoon consists of team-building activities. On Thursdays, students participate in hands-on career exploration, taught by HTC faculty, or attend a college visit. Students also have the opportunity to stay overnight in a college dorm and attend cultural events.

The TRIO ETS summer progam has been published as a national case study by Pearson and My Foundations Lab for closing the achievement gap in math and reading for high school students.

The TRIO ETS program was highlighted in a published article in the Community College Daily as a model for closing the achievement gap and keeping students on course over the summer.

One of the summer program's most popular offerings is the hands-on instruction in drumming. An article in the Star Tribune highlights the program.
