Spring 2021 Commencement

The pandemic has created significant barriers to how college graduations are traditionally celebrated. The Minnesota State System Office has instructed colleges and universities statewide that large, indoor graduation ceremonies are not permitted for Spring 2021. This safety measure is based on Minnesota Department of Health recommendations. Hennepin Technical College (HTC) is unable to safely hold a ceremony at the Minneapolis Convention Center this spring.

In preparation for planning an alternative celebration, the HTC Commencement Task Force surveyed students to discover the most important aspects of graduation for them. A plan was developed using survey results, as well as consultation with college leadership, staff, and faculty. The goal is to recognize the achievements of each graduate and provide opportunities to celebrate safely. Below are the events the Commencement Task Force has planned.

Guests Who Live Outside of U.S.

If you are inviting guests to Commencement who live outside of the United States, visitor requirements can be found on the U.S. State Department, Bureau of Consular Affairs Website.

Note: a letter of invitation is not needed to apply for a visitor visa, and is not one of the factors used to determine whether or not a visa will be issued to your guest. For this reason, HTC does not provide letters of invitation.
