Summer Bridge

The Hennepin Technical College Bridge program is for new and current HTC students, TRIO, or SUCCESS program participants who have earned less than 36 credits.  This course is free for eligible participants.

The Summer Bridge Program is designed to help students build a “learning community” that will enable them to attain the necessary skills, motivation, and connections with available resources (tutors, staff, faculty, and peers) to be successful at HTC. The goal of the program is to assist and support students to persist toward graduation. Students will have the opportunity to meet with a diverse group of other students, tutors, advisors, and faculty/staff, while getting adjusted to the college’s academic and social environment. Participants of this program are required to enroll at least 6 or more credits in the following fall semester.

The HTC Summer Bridge Program is designed to advance students’ academic success in:

  • reading
  • writing
  • critical thinking
  • study skills
  • communication skills
  • cultural awareness
  • time management
  • technology competencies

Benefits of the program
The program will offer a mix of academic and social support with a collaboration of different departments from HTC. These include:

  • Embedded tutoring in the course and online via Zoom or in-person
  • Academic advising
  • Social and emotional/mental support
  • Career preparation, social and cultural activities
  • Laptops and hotspots loaned to students for free from the library
  • Connection with the campus and resources
  • Earning a course credit that counts toward graduation requirements
  • Learning and developing valuable study skills to help students persist to graduation
  • Developing relationships with faculty, staff, and peer support network

  • Dates: Tuesdays from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm (June 21, 2022 - July 26, 2022)
