Follow the steps below to enroll

Want more info before you apply? Learn more by meeting with an Admissions Recruiter to make sure Hennepin Tech is the right choice for you, and find out your next chance to begin classes.

1. Apply for Admission

  • There is no application deadline, but programs may fill quickly after registration opens. Your Admissions Recruiter can confirm key dates and course availability.
  • Pay $20 application fee, or complete an Application Fee Waiver Request if eligible. All application fees will be waived in October for College Knowledge Month! (Please allow 1 week for the fee to be removed from your eServices account.)
  • Recent high school graduates: You can submit your high school transcript to potentially waive Placement Testing with a qualifying GPA. Request your official or unofficial transcript from your high school. Allow 2 weeks after completing orientation (Step #2) for us to process. Email Registrar@HennepinTech.edu with questions.
  • Transfer students: You can submit your official college transcript if you’ve previously attended college outside of the Minnesota State system. Allow 2 weeks after completing orientation (Step #2) for us to process; you will receive an email when ready. Email Transfer@HennepinTech.edu with questions.

2. Complete New Student Orientation

  • Online orientation is available year-round and is the quickest way to fulfill this requirement. Students are encouraged to also attend an in-person orientation to fully prepare for their first semester. All PSEO students must complete the online orientation.
  • In-person orientation sessions for undergrads are offered before each semester starts and are designed to get you ready to begin college.

4. Determine Your Course Placement: Complete Placement Testing or receive Test Waivers

  • Most programs require Accuplacer placement tests in reading; some programs require additional math test(s). Schedule your ACCUPLACER placement testing appointment, and the testing center will determine which test(s) you need when you arrive. Tests can be taken at the campus of your choice or virtually. Prepare with online ACCUPLACER study guides.
  • You may be exempt from some or all of your placement tests under certain conditions or have previously taken relevant college-level courses. See Testing Exemptions and GPA Information for more information about test waivers.
  • Contact Testing@HennepinTech.edu with questions.

5. Register for Classes

  • Registration is scheduled to open at midnight on January 26, 2027 for Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 classes.
  • Register for classes in eServices. The online Course Catalog lists all program award options, along with the Semester Sequence for each. Learn how to register online.
  • If eServices shows that you have a hold on your account that’s preventing you from registering, visit the Registration Holds webpage to find who to contact to clear it.
  • If you need help deciding which classes to take, book a meeting with your Advisor after orientation and testing are both completed and any holds are lifted.
  • If your program is full, you can add yourself to the waitlist in eServices when all of the above steps are completed.
  • Contact OneStop with any registration questions at 952-995-1300 x1 or OneStop@HennepinTech.edu.

Once you’re registered, start strong with the First 30 Days checklist!
