KLOBUCHAR AND BALDWIN TO HOST “ACROSS THE RIVER” ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS ON COLLEGE AFFORDABILITY AND STUDENT LOAN DEBT
Klobuchar and Baldwin are both sponsors of the In The Red Act; this legislation would allow student loan borrowers to refinance their student debt, strengthen the Pell Grant program, and make new investments in two-year community and technical colleges
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – On Wednesday, May 4, U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) will join with students, recent graduates, and local education leaders to discuss college affordability and student loan debt in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and then across the river in Hudson, Wisconsin.
Klobuchar and Baldwin are both sponsors of the In The Red Act. This legislation would allow student loan borrowers across the country - including nearly a million Minnesotans and more than 450,000 Wisconsinites - to refinance their student debt at lower interest rates, strengthen the Pell Grant program to keep up with rising costs, and make new investments in two-year community and technical colleges. The bill is fully paid for by closing special interest tax loopholes.
At Hennepin Technical College, Klobuchar and Baldwin will join with students and school leadership to tour the college’s state-of-the-art plastics engineering technology prior to the roundtable discussion.
