Policy Statement
This policy is written in accordance with MinnState Board Policy 3.32 and System Procedure 3.32.1 regarding Faculty Credentialing.
Purpose
This policy applies to faculty in unlimited positions, including counselors and librarians. The purpose of professional development, as stated in System Procedure 3.32.1 is “continuing improvement in: teaching and learning skills and methods, discipline and program content, student interactions, service to the college and the greater community, and personal growth related to the faculty member’s employment responsibilities.”
Policy
All unlimited faculty will complete a College Faculty Professional Development Plan, as described in the MSCF Master Agreement. The plan outlines activities and strategies that support staying current in the credential field and in teaching and learning skills. It may also include additional activities that contribute to broader professional development.
Plans should reflect professional goals of the individual faculty member and cover 1 to 3 academic years. New or updated plans go into effect the academic year after they are submitted and reviewed.
