Anatomy and Physiology IIThis course is the second semester of a lecture and laboratory sequence in human anatomy and physiology. Human anatomy and physiology are studied using a body systems approach, with emphasis on the interrelationships between form and function at the gross and microscopic levels of organization. Homeostasis is an integrating theme throughout this course. Topics include the endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, urinary and reproductive systems, the immune response, fluid and electrolyte balance, metabolism, nutrition, and human development. Clinical applications of anatomy and physiology are also discussed. The laboratory component of the course parallels and reinforces lecture concepts through the use of models, histological slides, dissection of animal specimens and exercises in physiology. Some lab exercises will introduce students to the laboratory techniques and equipment used in the acquisition of physiological data.
