Technology Services Department

Hennepin Technical College is committed to providing superior technology service and support to all students and employees. For technology support including D2L and online learning services, please use the following support methods.

Students have computer access:

  • Library
    The library is a great place for you to complete your assignments, check email, or just surf the Internet. Staff and work-study students are available to assist you. During peak hours, students completing coursework have priority over other computer users.
  • Learning Commons

    Each campus has a "Learning Commons" with computers available for accessing the internet, Office 365 and printing. This area is located near the front entrance at each campus and is open during normal campus hours.

  • Student Loaner Laptop Program
    You can request to borrow a laptop for the semester.

Student Printing and Copying

Student printing and copying is available free of charge for all current Hennepin Tech students with an active Star ID. With an active Star ID, you can access printing in the Learning Commons, Library, and Tutoring Centers at either campus.

Student Technology Minnesota State Helpline

Call us toll free at 1-877-466-6728 for help with the following:

  • StarID
  • D2L Brightspace
  • Kaltura Media Space
  • Zoom
  • Office 365 (Teams, Skype, Stream, Email)

Students will receive immediate assistance or be guided through the process to submit a ticket for more complex issues. See the Frequently Asked Questions section below for additional assistance.

StarID Accounts

StarID is a single username login for D2L, eServices, and other services used by Hennepin Tech students and employees. If you would like to set up a StarID account, please see the Library staff or go to StarID Self Service to set up your account and for additional information. To have your password reset, you may visit the Library with your Student ID Card or use one of the options on the Hennepin Tech StarID webpage.

Student Email Accounts

Hennepin Technical College provides a my.HennepinTech.edu e-mail account to all Hennepin Tech students. To set up an email account, please refer to the Email Setup webpage.

Student Coursework

Hennepin Tech students are expected to be familiar with the software for their classes while working in the Library. The Library staff is not responsible for knowing all software in the computer lab. If students have a specific problem with software use or assignments, they should discuss it with their instructor or obtain assistance in one of the Tutoring Centers

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you reset your StarID?

Access to D2L and email requires the use of a StarID account. This account is also used to register for classes. To reset your password, Please visit the Minnesota State StarID Information page.

How do you access your HTC Email?

Email is the official means of communicating to students and is needed to participate in online courses. To access your Hennepin Tech email, please click the link below and log in with your StarID.
