If you love working with animals, take the first step towards your new career! Through a blended online/ in-person program and a hands-on experience, you'll learn the essential skills for a new career caring for animals! Veterinary Assistants work in clinics, shelters, retail outlets, laboratories, and many other places. According to data from the Minnesota Department of Employment Economic Development-Labor Market Information, the average wage of a Veterinary Assistant in the Twin Cities is $14.19/hr!  Start and finish in just one semester!  This course is only offered at the Brooklyn Park Campus.

This new program includes 30 hours of classroom, 30 hours of online/blended learning and 40 hours of arranged internship. Students will learn the skills, knowledge and hands-on experience to begin on a new career path working with animals. Topics include professional conduct, medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, disease, behavior and restraint, and patient care.

Prerequisite: Students must be at least 17 years of age or a Junior in high school and take the reading accuplacer with a minimum score of Classic Reading 78 or NextGen Reading 253 to enroll. You may call the testing center at 763-488-2590 (BP) or 952-995-1547 (EP) to schedule your free Accuplacer test or obtain a waiver if eligible.

Registrations will be accepted in person at either campus or via fax with proof of Accuplacer score and full tuition payment due at time of registration. This program is a non-credit, hour based program and is not Financial Aid eligible.
