Emergency Grants
Hennepin Tech Crisis Grant
Hennepin Technical College has assistance available for students facing unexpected financial emergencies during the academic year. The crisis grants were created to help students stay in college and achieve their educational goals. Funds are dispersed on a first come, first served basis to eligible students while funds last.
BEAM Emergency Grant
Thanks to an allocation of $2.25 million dollars in the 2023 legislative session, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities are able to offer direct emergency grants to students each year of the biennium. This funding aims to ease financial burdens and ensure that students can focus on their education without additional stress. Students can now apply for emergency grants to assist with various needs though a simple electronic application. Whether it’s food insecurity, housing insecurity, transportation, or other unexpected expenses, this grant program is designed to provide support where it’s needed most.
The stipulations are:
- Application is open to any student currently enrolled in at least 1 credit at the time of application and application review
- Funding is one time per fiscal year per student
- Maximum award is $750
- Cannot be used for tuition, books, or supplies
- Invoice, bill, or documentation must be provided to substantiate the amount requested
- Crisis grants and BEAM grants will be cross-referenced; students may not be awarded for the same reason or for duplicate reasons on previous applications
