Image Optimization | Cascade Training

In this section, we will learn how to best optimize images for use in Cascade.

Large images are currently the largest cause of performance issues in Cascade as there is no image optimization built into the system. Because of this, content owners are responsible for compressing images before they get uploaded to the CMS for use in a page or article. The image optimization process is simple and quick!

  1. Open TinyPNG ; the open source & free software we'll use to compress images

  2. Drag your images into TinyPNG - compression will start immediately & you can drop multiple images in at the same time

    • For banner images, ensure the original image is at least 1000 pixels wide, at most 1500 pixels wide

    • For all other images, ensure the original image is at most 1000 pixels on the longest side

  3. Once compression is done, click 'Download All' to download all of the images you've uploaded

  4. Upload the downloaded images into Cascade as you normally would
