Hennepin Tech student Ashlyn Anderson named as Trustee

Hennepin Technical College student Ashlyn Anderson has been named by Governor Dayton to the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees. The Champlin resident’s two-year term as the Board’s Technical College Student Member begins this month.
Ashlyn is a student at Hennepin Technical College majoring in Broad Field Health Science, and works as a nanny and caretaker. Additionally, she is a current Student Ambassador with Hennepin Technical College, a PCA with Accra Care, and a Grassroots Legislative Assistant with LeadMN. Ms. Anderson has also participated as the Treasurer of the Hennepin Technical College Student Senate and completed their Leadership Series. Ms. Anderson was also the 2017 Mark Welter World Citizen Award and recently attended the Power in Leadership Conference.
“It’s a tremendous honor for Ashlyn to be selected as a Trustee. She’s a remarkable student leader and an asset to our Hennepin Technical College campus community. I have confidence that she will continue to excel as she represents the state’s technical college students in her new role,” said Hennepin Technical College President Dr. Merrill Irving, Jr.
She is one of six individuals selected to fill vacancies on the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees. The 15-member Board is responsible for governing Minnesota State’s system planning, academic programs, fiscal management, personnel, admissions requirements, tuition and fees, and rules and regulations.
