KINDERCAMINATA

April 9, 2014: Earle Brown Elementary School

What is KinderCaminata?
KinderCaminata is a child-oriented “career fair” experience for kindergarteners, their parents, and teachers. The program began twenty years ago in Santa Ana, CA as an approach to instill in young students the importance of an education and that college can be a realistic part of their future.

Who is invited?
All Kindergarten children from Earle Brown Elementary will come to HTC on the morning of April 9, 2014, accompanied by their teachers. The children’s parents are also invited to attend and learn about the career training possibilities that are offered at Hennepin Technical College. They will also be able to meet President Cecilia Cervantes and other HTC faculty and staff, as well as tour the college’s labs and learning spaces.

What will children and parents do at HTC?
Children will walk through a series of career stations and see first-hand the equipment, the tools, and hands-on projects from exciting careers that they may want to pursue in the future. Hennepin Technical College will provide children with experiences from a sampling of our state-of-the-art career technical programs through a “kinder” perspective. These programs may include:  Allied Health; Law Enforcement; Manufacturing; Landscape/Horticulture; Fire Protection; and Information Technology.

How can parents attend?
Please RSVP to HTC Dean, Dara Hagen by email at dhagen@hennepintech.edu by April 8, 2014. Meet your child and his/her class at HTC’s Brooklyn Park Campus (park by the flag poles-front entrance!) at 9:15 a.m. on April 9th.
