Course Description

This course will provide students with hands-on experience in setting up and administering e-mail, web, ftp, and other `Internet services` using Microsoft`s Internet Information Server and Exchange Server. In addition, students will install Windows Small Business Server and use virtualization software to simulate groups of networked computers.

Course Goals

The following goals will be addressed in the course:
Install host Windows operating systems
Employ virtualization solution using both Windows Virtual Server and VMWare
Adapt server settings to support new server roles
Set up web services using both Internet Information Services (IIS) and Apache Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) server
Install email services with both Exchange and a third party application
Configure public folders on Exchange server to support collaborative interaction
Adopt "best practices" strategy to configure user account access to email system
Utilize Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) server to employ corporate level firewall solutions
Specify what firewall access policies are required to support typical business activities in a modern world
Diagram network schemes providing public, private, and semi-private nodes
Differentiate between the various levels of Windows servers and their hardware requirements
Install Small Business Server
