Hennepin Tech welcomes Visiting Students from other higher education institutions, both within the Minnesota State system or non-Minnesota State.

Application and Registration Process for Visiting Students

Non-Minnesota State Students

Visiting from an institution outside of the Minnesota State system? Follow these steps.

1. Apply for Admission as a non-degree seeking student. Pay $20 application fee, or complete an Application Fee Waiver Request if eligible.

2. If your class requires a pre-requisite, send your unofficial transcripts to transfer@hennepintech.edu, or schedule a Placement Testing appointment.  
3. Complete New Student Orientation.

Minnesota State Students

Students with a current active status within the Minnesota State system do not need to apply to Hennepin Tech. They still need to complete steps 2 and 3 below.

1. Students without a current active status will need to Apply for Admission as a non-degree seeking student. Pay $20 application fee, or complete an Application Fee Waiver Request if eligible.
2. If your class requires a pre-requisite, email transfer@hennepintech.edu to have your transcript reviewed, or schedule a Placement Testing appointment.   
3. Complete New Student Orientation.

International Students from Non-Minnesota State Institutions

International students attending as a Visiting Student from an institution outside of the  Minnesota State system will need to follow these steps.

1. Apply for Admission as an International student.
   • The DSO from your home institution must fill out the International Visiting Student Verification Form. 
   • Email international@hennepintech.edu once the application is completed to obtain an app fee waiver.
2. If your class requires a pre-requisite, send in transcripts to transfer@hennepintech.edu, or schedule a Placement Testing appointment.   
3. Complete New Student Orientation.

International Students from Minnesota State Institutions

International students with an active status within the Minnesota State system do not need to apply to Hennepin Tech. They do need to follow these steps.

1. Complete the International Visiting Student Verification Form before registering for courses in eServices.
   • Email international@hennepintech.edu once the application is completed.
2. If your class requires a pre-requisite, send in unofficial transcripts to transfer@hennepintech.edu, or schedule a Placement Testing appointment.   
3. Complete New Student Orientation.
