HTC joins White House COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge
Brooklyn Park, July 22, 2021 – Hennepin Technical College (HTC) is one of hundreds of higher education institutions in the U.S. that has pledged a commitment to the COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge organized by the White House and Department of Education.
Participating colleges and universities are taking action in key areas:
- Making sure all students, faculty and staff know they are eligible for a vaccine and the resources to find one
- Implementing a plan to vaccinate as many people in the campus community as possible
- Increasing vaccine access by offering vaccines on campus or informing the campus community about vaccines in the area
The challenge is part of a push to vaccinate as many Americans as possible against COVID-19. HTC will learn from the efforts of other colleges and universities, through White House-facilitated events and briefings with administration officials. As a participant, HTC will build on efforts already underway to make vaccines easily available to students, faculty and staff.
In May, at both campus locations in Brooklyn Park and Eden Prairie, HTC offered free vaccines to students, faculty, staff and the general public. HTC’s COVID committee, comprised of faculty and staff, updates the college community about the latest safety information, campus policies and vaccine availability.
