Dental Assisting alum Sasha Lehman

Brooklyn Park, February 14, 2024

Sasha Lehman, a 2017 graduate of Hennepin Technical College is not only a licensed Dental Assistant, she is also on a mission to help her employer recruit talent. Lehman, a Dental Assistant at PerioWest, a dental implant and periodontal practice in Eden Prairie, returned to Hennepin Tech as an industry professional to attend the Men Who Care Industry Partner Career Fair.

When asked about her time at Hennepin Tech, she reflected on how the support from the Tutoring Center helped her transform her life.

“Completing a degree from Hennepin Tech has not only changed my life but it has changed my children’s lives.” Lehman said. She spoke about being guided by the staff in the tutoring center, not only receiving help with assignments, but being given information about resources to help combat barriers that sometimes prevent students from completing their degree. She reflected on being a student and young mother of two, “Being a mom and a student was one of the most difficult times in my life. Maggie and Sharful in the Tutoring Center made sure I had what I needed to finish my degree.”

She spoke about the benefits of being a Licensed Dental Assistant, focusing on the earning potential and how being a professional has transformed her life. “Education is the only thing that no one on this planet can ever take from you. The more education that you can get, the better.”

Lehman praised the resources available to students, mentioning access to resources that have since developed into our campus resource rooms. Campus resource rooms are available on each campus. They provide a space for students to access basic needs, including items like clothing, food, and school supplies.

Tutoring Centers are available at both the Eden Prairie and Brooklyn Park campuses and are available to students free of charge. Tutoring Center services extend past academic help, offering students assistance with time management, navigating classroom software and digital books, improving study skills, and mapping out schedules.
