Students Compete in SkillsUSA Competition

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — Hennepin Technical College students will compete in the Minnesota SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Competition on March 27-28, showcasing their technical knowledge and hands-on skills across a wide range of career and technical education fields. The college will also host several competition events on campus, including Information Technology competitions and the Culinary Arts and Commercial Baking competitions.

A total of 37 Hennepin Tech students will compete this year under the advisement of 13 faculty instructors, representing programs across the college. Students will compete in the following areas:

SkillsUSA is a national organization that serves hundreds of thousands of students enrolled in career and technical education programs. Through local, state, and national competitions, students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills while being evaluated by industry professionals using real-world standards.

The annual state competition brings together students from across Minnesota to compete in hands-on technical challenges that reflect the skills they will use in their careers. Students who place at the state level may have the opportunity to advance to the national SkillsUSA Championships, one of the largest workforce development events in the country.

Hennepin Technical College has been a proud participant in SkillsUSA for many years, and the college community continues to celebrate the accomplishments of students pursuing careers in technical education and the skilled trades. Competitions like SkillsUSA highlight the importance of career and technical education and the high level of skill and professionalism students develop through hands-on training.

By hosting several competition events on campus and supporting student competitors across multiple programs, Hennepin Tech continues its commitment to preparing students for high-demand careers and showcasing the value of technical education in Minnesota’s workforce.
