Gold, silver, bronze medals for HTC students at SkillsUSA
Brooklyn Park, June 29, 2021 – Congratulations to the Hennepin Technical College (HTC) students who earned gold, silver, and bronze medals at SkillsUSA, a national competition for career and technical students.
The annual SkillsUSA conference was a showcase of the best career and technical education students in the nation. Students competed in 106 different trade, technical and leadership events. The 2021 SkillsUSA Championships was held virtually in June.
All of the HTC winners in the national championship had previously won gold medals in Minnesota’s SkillsUSA competition which allowed them to advance to the national contest.
Dmitry Katkov, HTC student, earned a gold medal in Computer Programming.
“Thank you so much for the help and support from HTC throughout this process! It was a fun experience and I learned a lot during both the preparation and the competition phases,” said Dmitry.
Two HTC students in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (HVAC-R) earned silver medals; Andrew Franz and Kian Howard. Howard attended HTC while simultaneously attending Wayzata High School in the PSEO (Post-Secondary Enrollment Options) program.
In the Information Technology Services competition, HTC student Wendy Olson earned a bronze medal.
