Your Library Account

Every HTC student and employee has a library account where they can renew the items they have checked out, view items they have on hold, see any fines they may have accrued, or request items through interlibrary loan.

To login to your Library Account:

  • Go to Library OneSearch.
  • Click Sign In (in the top right corner) and login with your Star ID and password.
  • Your name will now appear in the top right corner.  Click your name to view your Library Account

If you do not have or do not remember your Star ID, please visit:

Textbook Lending

The library carries most of HTC's current course textbooks.  These books may be checked out for 4 hours.

While you are welcome to take these to class or other areas within the building, you may not take them off-campus.  Late returns are subject to fines.

To see if the library carries your current course textbook:

  1. Select the Textbook tab under Library OneSearch on the library website.
  2. In the search box, type your textbook title or the 4-digit course designator for your course (example: CCIS)
  3. One the side of your search results, use the course number or instructor name to narrow in on the exact course.

Textbook search in library Onesearch (textbook tab selected, CCIS typed in search box)

For more information on checking out textbooks, please see the Amenity Item Checkout section of the Library Policies page.

Laptop Lending

The library lends laptops to current HTC students in good library standing. Laptops are first come, first served and may be checked out for a semester. Laptops cannot be renewed.  Late returns are subject to fines.

For information on checking out these items, please see the Amenity Item Checkout section of the Library Policies page.

Interlibrary Loan

No library can hold everything, so libraries like to share their resources whenever possible.

If the HTC Library does not carry a resource you need or would like to use, simply submit an Interlibrary Loan request; and we will request to borrow the item from a library that does have it.  If available for loan, the item will be shipped to our library and we will notify you when it arrives.

Interlibrary Loan requests can be created through a database search or via your Library Account.

You can also search for and find items for Interlibrary Loan via the following resources:

  •  MnLink (searches across most libraries in Minnesota)
  •  WorldCat (searches across over 10,000 libraries worldwide, with preference toward local libraries)

Research Guides

HTC's Research Guides (also known as LibGuides) contain countless tips, best practices, and resources for research within your program and beyond.

Visit the HTC LibGuides website to find a guide:

If you'd like to suggest a guide to be created, please email library staff.
