CLEP Testing

Announcement Regarding CLEP Exams: Currently, we are not administering CLEP exams. We have no immediate plans to resume CLEP testing.

Important Note: The designation “Public” in the Test Center Search results indicates the type of test center as well as the fact that the test center has administered CLEP exams in the past. It is not an indication that the center is currently administering CLEP exams. You will have to contact the institution to confirm that they are currently administering CLEP exams.

Why should I take a CLEP test?

  • Save time. Get college credit for what you have learned through independent study, advanced high school courses, non-credit adult courses, or professional development.
  • Save money. Compare the cost of a CLEP exam fee: $80 to the cost of tuition. CLEP exams are free to active military service members.
  • Satisfy a proficiency requirement. Demonstrate you have already mastered the content of college math or a foreign language.

What should I bring to my CLEP test?

  • Your ID: ID must be government issued (driver's license, passport, state ID, etc.)
  • Payment: $25 administrative fee (payable to HTC by cash, check or credit card)
  • Exam ticket fee: $87 payable to CLEP when you sign up for the test at http://clep.collegeboard.org/started

What materials will be provided by the Testing Center?

  • Scratch paper and pencils
  • Ear plugs and noise canceling headphones are available
