Institutional Review Board

The purpose of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) is to protect the rights of human subjects in research. This includes making sure that vulnerable populations are protected, and that informed consent is maintained for participation in research. The IRB also monitors non-college researchers seeking to conduct research on campus. Through federal-wide assurance it is assumed the the research conducted must conform to the Belmont Report and 45 CRF 46, through IRB approval or exemption.

If you are interested in doing research with Hennepin Technical College (students, faculty, or staff), please fill out the application and send to IREA@HennepinTech.edu. Review of IRB applications takes about one month.
