Join the Student Life and Career Development department for our Keys to Success leadership series which will help you navigate the workplace. This year, we will be focusing on basic needs and communication during the fall semester and self-care and professionalism during the spring semester. These sessions are designed to provide you with tools that can help you be successful in your career.

Workplace Self-care

This third session will focus on self-care in the workplace. Adjusting to the environment of a new or changing workplace can challenging. It’s important to take care of yourself while balancing multiple responsibilities inside and outside of the workplace. We want to share helpful self-care tips to make you successful while in the workplace.

Workplace Professionalism

Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at 12pm

This last session will focus on professionalism in the workplace. What is professionalism? What does professionalism mean to you? What does it mean to others? How can we use this idea of “professionalism” in the workplace? We will give you tips to become the professional you want to be in the workplace.

Workplace Basic Needs

We will kick off the academic year with a session about basic needs in the workplace. Our special guest speaker will feature Hennepin Technical College's Assistant Director of Human Resources, Daniel Le Guen-Schmidt who will be talking about searching for a job, negotiating salary, navigating a career change and important skills needed in a job.

Workplace Communication

This session will focus on communication in the workplace. We will be talking about the best practices for communication, appropriate communication with colleagues, the use of social media accounts, understanding background differences in communication styles, and adjusting to different styles of communication. Join us via Zoom for this great opportunity to network and start practicing different communication styles for the workplace.
